Alexander Wang Beauty

Friday, September 17, 2010

And finally, let's not forget the models, who appeared curiously shiny, pallid, and eyebrowless (which has been - unfortunately - a raging runway trend ever since Balenciaga 2008). In short, they looked like Annalynne McCord on a bad makeup day:

Equally intriguing were silver nose rings that were more Aztec than Athens. The piercings seemed somewhat inharmonious with the floaty fabrics, minimal makeup, and "optimism" that Wang described.

Though they promised a shampooing disaster, white splotches of hair paint were artistic and innovative. Random sections of coated hair protruded in spikes from atop their heads. From afar, they resembled silvery feathers. Practical? No. But they were fiercely futuristic and arrestingly avant-garde.
