Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort 2011
Friday, June 18, 2010
When in the midst of a recession, every designer (besides Viktor & Rolf) suddenly veers away from the "groundbreaking" and "unexpected" and aims to create clothes "that girls want to wear." Marc Jacobs evidently took this statement to heart, engineering a solid collection that incorporated trendy components such as overdyed skinnies, graphic shifts, and zippered shirtdresses. In the end, it's what he knows best: quirky elements like quilted shorts, patterned pillow bags, and men's oxfords infused originality into an otherwise "safe" presentation. Overall, not bad for Marc Jacobs' little sister line.
