Like many of his contemporaries, Giambattista Valli focused on practical separates and semiformal wear for resort. However, the Italian designer put his own spin on cocktail attire with full-skirted dresses, oversized animal prints, and strappy, fringed stilettos. Classic coats had a futuristic bubble shape; the sporty anorak became a dressy topper when tied with a black velvet ribbon. The juxtaposition of tiger stripes with a tweed skirt and an orange belt added eclecticism to a collection predominantly composed of pretty, feminine dresses.
