Max Azria Resort 2011

Max Azria's latest showing was one part citified urbanite, two parts exotic travelgoer. In addition to its composite theme, the collection exhibited a remarkable versatility; while trendy, the pieces could be worn several different ways by women of varying ages. Thanks to billowy silk caftans and draped jersey shifts, it retained an ease of movement in contrast to the sharp tailoring of previous seasons. The safari inspiration took shape in slouchy harem pants, cross-body messenger bags, brown leather belts, and a myriad of greens. Not to say that the collection couldn't be worn anywhere other than the plains of Africa - a sheer tie-dye tunic and black bikini would be better fit for the Bahamas. Meanwhile, cuffed suede shorts, open-toe booties, and neon jersey dresses could easily be worn in a more metropolitan destination like Los Angeles or New York. And even if you're planning a staycation, why not indulge in some holiday shopping?
