10. Animal Print

If you thought zebra stripes and leopard spots were out, think again. Designers unleashed their wild sides with feline-centric collections that paid homage to the kingdom Animalia. With the help of a talented team (Ricardo Tisci among them), animal print shed its ostentatious connotations; though the profusion of leopard spots that bloomed from Blumarine's pastel minis was pure bombshell, it also anchored the darkly gothic collection at Givenchy and translated into sleek minimalism at Giambattista Valli. Similarly, the pieced-together python at Altuzarra was equal parts glamazon and fembot with its reflective accents and geometric cut. But how to embrace your inner animalista without coming off as tacky? The only surefire way is to buy prints with a pedigree - the theory being, if it looks expensive, it probably is expensive. If you're not willing to dish out the dough, stick with a smaller-scale pattern and start with subtle doses (think accessories).
