Kenzo Resort 2011

This looks rather fierce, no? It's very Missoni-clad gypsy meets Sports Illustrated model with a dash of garden party (hence the floral wedges). As you know, it's very au courant to look effortlessly undecided about the weather - is it summer or winter? We don't know - her autumn wrap seems to suggest cooler temperatures, but she's obviously ready to hit the beach. The rest of the Kenzo collection was similarly uncoordinated; a series of beturbaned garden warriors emerged in oversized smocks, fuschia kimonos, and the occasional maillot, sporting clutches so large that they could double as duffel bags. One baggy-crotched, high-necked floral jumpsuit was positively frightening. The chaos ensued with little-house-on-the-prairie balloon blouses and foliage-hued poodle skirts. At last, respite arrived in the form of sporty pastel anoraks, origami-sleeved trenches, and nifty bow-topped belts. This season's ubiquitous short suit took on a relaxed sophistication with an slouchy jacket and looser fit. Overall, it was an interesting proposition - and if it wasn't exactly easy on the eyes, at least it was original.
