Stefano Pilati, unlike his contemporaries at Chanel and Dior, takes a more simplistic approach to fashion.

Though the collection revolved around a black and gray palette, Pilati injected pops of color into monochrome ensembles with bright, colorblock heels and cherry-red lips. Towards the end of the presentation, vibrant hues such as coral and lavender emerged on crisp cuffed shorts, slouchy blouses, and sequined skirts. YSL's signature number, a womens' tuxedo, was updated with a shorter, belted silhouette. Never overtly trendy or ostentatious, Pilati's pieces showcased the quality, refinement, and simplicity that have made YSL a household name.
