Travels, Part II: Hong Kong
Sunday, June 07, 2015
I have a confession: despite my Asian heritage, I'm not the biggest fan of traditional Chinese food. While there are plenty of places for authentic steamed fish, fried rice, and dim sum, Hong Kong's international influence has also lent itself to an impressive array of tapas and fusion spots, especially in the expat district. My favorites were Little Bao, which served up delectably crunchy fries and bao-style "burgers" (the pork belly and Szechuan chicken are musts), and Ho Lee Fook, where the "three courses" the waiter recommended as enough for "two ladies" were so delicious we made that a double. Between meals, the pastries (available everywhere from the streets to the subway stations) kept me happily stuffed - and I had enough sponge cakes, sugar donuts, and meat-filled buns to give LA's gluten snobs a heart attack. Whoever said money can't buy happiness clearly forgot about carbs.
I'm a 22-year-old bicoastal blogger currently based in Los Angeles. I'm addicted to all things aesthetic and the art of paradox: haute couture with a side of street culture, green juice in the morning and vodka on the weekends, and worshipping nature in the concrete jungle. Join me as I document my journeys (and struggles) in fitness, fashion, travel, food, and life!
