New Transportation Looks Pretty ... Printy?
Monday, January 10, 2011
Walk into any Louis Vuitton store, and you'll see that printed purses are a cornerstone of the handbag industry. And according to Orla Kiely, who is known for her signature wallets and laptop cases, "the world of cars and fashion are not that far apart." With this in mind, the London-based designer has extended her signature pattern to the eco-friendly Citroën, complete with abstract acorn floor mats and head rests. 500 of the limited-edition cars will be released next week. Unfortunately, for those of you on this side of the pond, the wheel is on the right side of the car ... good luck with that!
On the subject of patterns, there's a new species of posh pedicab in downtown San Diego. The newest rides are upholstered in Vuitton, no less - but we're not sure Marc Jacobs would approve. According to Tony, a pedicab driver who refused to give his last name, the luxe leather is sewn from counterfeit handbags obtained from "connections" in LA. The colors are seasonal, too. White is more for the summertime, Tony explained, while he likes the brown monogram for winter. Very stylish indeed!
