A Lesson in Geometry

Stella McCartney's latest collection was a refinement of the utilitarianism in her spring showing. Of structured denim shirts and chunky wooden platforms there were none, but the boxy silhouettes prevailed in tweed toppers and unbelted shifts. The textures and fabrics were basic and polished, yet the proportions and tailoring rendered it au courant. Chic nude flats were the perfect finishing touch. It was refreshingly simple, yet infinitely stylish. In other words, trés chic.
A drop-shouldered camel coat over a stretchy sheath was a winning combination, while the sophisticated fern pattern on a creamy beige dress added visual interest without sacrificing versatility. A burnt orange poncho and slim trousers made an excellent pairing, while an oversized tweed looked perfect with bare legs and a structured purse. To top it off, McCartney added two knockout dresses, both in black lace. Overall, a well-rounded (and enticingly wearable) collection.
